Power of Prayer Family of God Ministries in Mozambique 2024 in Review

Updated: Mar 7

As we close the chapter on another eventful year, Family of God Ministries in Mitilani, Mozambique, reflects on the remarkable changes and growth we have witnessed. The year 2024 was a transformative period for the communities we serve. This update shines a light on our key initiatives and recognizes the struggles and triumphs we experienced together.

The Power of Prayer in Outreaches

Throughout 2024, Family of God Ministries embraced the power of prayer. Our outreach programs in neighboring bush communities brought spiritual healing and support to areas often overlooked. Prayer has been a cornerstone of our efforts, offering hope and encouragement to many.

During our prayer gatherings, the stories shared reflect the struggles and victories within these communities. We have witnessed incredible miraculous transformations, such as restored relationships, miraculous healings, and individuals recovering long-term health issues. None of these compared to so many repenting and giving their lives to Jesus! These stories serve as poignant reminders of the spirit’s presence and the direct impact active faith through Holy Spirit brings to those around us.

Digging Deeper: Access to Clean Water

One of our most significant practical achievements this year was successfully completing two deep water wells. Given the ongoing water crisis, these wells have provided access to clean drinking water for everyone around us. This project goes beyond clean water; it signifies dignity, health, and sustainability.

Thanks to these wells, the risk of waterborne diseases has decreased significantly. For example, studies show that access to clean water can reduce cases of cholera, malaria and TB by up to 40%. This advancement empowers local individuals, especially women and children, who usually spend hours collecting water from distant sources. Additionally, clean water gives a way to access time making it available for education, practical training, farming, and so much more.

Building Foundations: Water Towers for the Future

In addition to digging deep water wells, we also began and completed building two large water towers, each with the capacity to hold 4 -10,000ltr tanks. These towers play a vital role by storing and distributing water efficiently across the bush area. With these additions, we enhance water accessibility and reliability, especially throughout the continuing drought seasons.

Despite facing several challenges, the water towers now stand as symbols of hope. The towers provide a sustainable solution for water storage and distribution.

Facing the Storm: Challenges of Election Fraud and Riots

While we celebrate Gods great accomplishments, we must address the shadows cast by recent political unrest. Octobers elections sparked turmoil, as allegations of election fraud led to much military/police violence which in-turn led to months of protesting and rioting. The ongoing country wide election turmoil is combined with the continuation of violence brought by ISIS-M in many areas. The combinations of ISIS-M and rioting have given way to many of the providences, with large and small bush community populations feeling vulnerable as violence continues to erupt. Even our local government offices and local gov. officials residents are being firebombed and burned.

In response, Family of God Ministries is taking action by initiating peace-building efforts within our local bush communities. We have become mentors and mediators within conflicting youth factions and young adults crying out for change. Additionally, we are creating safe spaces. We have organized special prayer sessions focusing on peace through faith in Christ and stability hope creates. We are a rallying support for possible new local leaders and community members.

Peaceful gatherings in prayer for unity and spiritual healing within the community have become a new refuge. Our commitment to fostering peace will continue. We aim to advocate for justice and support families affected by the violence, striving to restore their sense of safety and belonging even in a fractured society, knowing our faith and hope lay safely in Christ Jesus.

Looking to the Future

Family of God Ministries remains dedicated to uplifting communities in Manhica, our bush community of Mitilani and beyond. The groundwork laid in 2024 through the construction of water facilities and outreach programs marks a step toward better community development. Yet, we recognize challenges remain.

We are actively seeking partnerships to expand our initiatives. Potential future projects include:

  • Developing further places of safety and prayer

  • Bible Studies, Outreaches/Worship Programing

  • Partnership with villages/local Gov. to bring peace and security from fear and violence

  • Training programs on water conservation/management

  • Health awareness campaigns – HIV, TB, Parenting skills

  • Advancing of Practical Training for Economic empowerment

The success of our past work motivates our future ambitions.

Celebrating Unseen Victories through the Power of Prayer

This year has indeed been marked by triumphs amid adversity. It serves as a reminder that amidst challenges, hope persists. The commitment and dedication of Family of God Ministries shine through every well dug, tower built, and prayers offered.

As we move forward, we invite your continued support and prayers.

As we celebrate victories together and address the challenges that lie ahead, let us never forget Prayer moves the heart and hands of our God.

Together, we can create communities characterized by resilience and active faith in Christ Jesus.
